Oncology coding

Oncology coding refers to the assignment of ICD-10 and CPT codes for cancer diagnoses, chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, radiation therapy, surgical oncology procedures, and supportive care services. Oncology coding demands precision in capturing primary versus secondary malignancy, histology, anatomic site, treatment modality, and encounter type. Inaccurate oncology coding can result in significant revenue loss, compliance exposure, and incomplete clinical data that affects quality reporting and care coordination.
