Computer-assisted coding

Computer-assisted coding (CAC) refers to software that analyzes clinical documentation and suggests appropriate medical codes to human coders, who must then review, validate, and approve the suggested codes before submission to billing. Unlike CAC, which assists human coders, autonomous medical coding solutions like Nym’s engine operate with zero human intervention, independently assigning codes and routing successfully coded encounters directly to billing.
